Day 9-Italy, Rome

It was my last full day in Rome today, and I feel I've just gotten the hang of things. The shower knobs and bathroom locks, for example. Now I know it's a little twist on the hot knob and full throttle on the cold if I don't want to be scalded. And to avoid being trapped in the bathroom, you have to jerk to the left to free yourself. As for the city, I feel confident navigating the metro like a not-newbie to Rome :) I think I still have to get used to giving up my right to breathe, though, as was the case today on our way to the catacombs. Probably the most packed metro I've been on.

Mentioned previously, our last day trip was spent underground with dead people. Ok, not really, but it was where more than 50,000 early Christians, Popes, and martyrs were laid to rest for a long time before they were exhumed for their protection. It was so creepy and cool. Literally. I'm glad I brought my jacket. After having a slight panic attack as I imagined hands reaching from the dark depths of the exposed graves with their intent being to trip me, I was grateful to see light and come up for fresh air.

It was pretty cool and apparently I liked hanging with the deceased because after the catacombs I went to to a cemetery, but it was so gorgeous! I went with a group of people to find some famous poet, and have to say I enjoyed the random cat lounging on a tombstone more than the guy's memorial ;)

On my way home, I decided to try a turkish Kebab...one of the best decisions I've made. It was so good! Meat, tomatoes, some sauce, lettuce and cabbage all wrapped up in one large tortilla. Amazing. My adventure continued when I ran into a mannequin that's consecutively scared me every single morning. I have a picture. Also, before I left Rome I felt I needed to finally ride a moped. Enjoy my final moments in Rome! Also, here's some pictures of my apartment...and laundry.
