Day 11-Italy, Pompeii

At the end of each day I tell myself I won't be as tired as I am right at that moment. And then the next day rolls around and it's just as busy, just as chaotic.

Today we caught a train to Paestum where we saw the most gorgeous archaic Greek temples on one of the most beautiful days of the trip so far. It was amazing. We then had a 12 minute "break" between the time we got back to our hotel and the time we needed to catch another train to the ancient Roman city of Herculaneum...let's just say it was super crazy. The city was amazing, however, and it was something else to walk the streets of a city previously buried under 20 meters of volcanic ash. Pretty sure I want a Roman villa for my summer house ;)

After our tour, our instructors told us they were going somewhere else, so we needed to find our way back. This seems to happen a lot, I've noticed, and it's getting really important for us to actually notice our surroundings and trust our basic instincts. (guess that's a good thing, right?...) While walking back, I noticed again how unafraid Italian men around Naples are of staring and calling out to you. Today I got a "Hello, darling?" and "Boyfriend?" (at least it was English and I could understand it). It was a sketchy trip back to say the least the least. Add in the fact our professors seem to trust our ability to navigate a city we've never been to in our lives and it just becomes an awesome situation.

Needless to say, we eventually got home, but not before stopping at the grocery store and McDonald's :) It was a great day.
