Day 7-Italy, Rome

I can't believe it's only been a week since I've arrived in Rome. It feels so much longer (I think keeping busy all the time adds to that feeling) than seven days. And even though there's a million things it seems we've done, we keep coming up with more :)

Today we spent most our time together inside museums and a few other churches. My sunburned neck was so happy. The highlights of today included the Greek bronze statue of the seated boxer, the Discobolus, and these absolutely breathtaking roman wall paintings (I have a picture of that to share!). Also, I couldn't have been happier to visit Caravaggio's Calling of St. Matthew in the church of San Luigi dei Francesi. It was so incredible and proved Caravaggio (though somewhat of a hated individual) had true talent.

Story time! So I've been told a lot of things about Europeans, some warnings even. However, nowhere at any point in those conversations has the chill European attitude towards breast feeding come up. Today on the metro was the second time I've encountered this event...and it happened right in front of me and beside me simultaneously. As soon as the two mothers began feeding, I didn't know where to look. Obviously it was the norm, but I didn't know the norm for the observer...was I suppose to look away? I thought that might be rude, so I ended up smiling at the babies during their burping time and feeling awesomely awkward. It was an interesting metro ride, that's for sure.

Later in the evening I took the metro again and ventured by myself (I was safe, no need to worry!) through some shops and soaked in a bit more of Rome :) It was nice and at a way more relaxed pace than usual. A pace I'm afraid will pick up briskly tomorrow as always :) ciao!
