I feel like today was really two days for some reason. Maybe it's because I'm beginning to split the days in half based on what we did for "school" and then what happened during the rest of the day.
School in Thessaloniki was pretty fun today due to a few tag-a-longs and what we saw in some of the city's museums. At our first stop under Galerius' triumphal arch, we spotted a stray dog that started following us. After that, as we walked to each of our destinations, we'd pick up another dog. When we finally reached the museum entrance, our professor had to guard the doorway to prevent four strays from joining our group inside. It was pretty funny.
Inside the museum, we saw more of my favorite gold wreaths! And I even got a few pictures. The last thing we did as a group was visit the Byzantine museum where we saw some amazing icons and a spectacular manuscript.
To take full advantage of Thessaloniki, a group of us decided to wander by the coast and find some seafood (I actually ended up getting this excellent potato, cheese, and bacon soufflé but had some squid off of someone's plate). We took our time eating-in true Greek spirit-and two hours later headed back to our hotel. Later in the evening we went out again, enjoyed some pastries and decided to take a boat ride at sunset :) It was so pretty and looking back at the city from the water (I've been on the Aegean!) was really cool. The only questionable thing that occurred on the boat was this mother who let her two young children (I'm talking 6 and maybe 10) drink her alcoholic beverage...I was stunned. Maybe that's just what happens here, but I was upset. Definitely don't see that everyday.
On a happier note, walking back to our hotel was fun. We had a couple of random silent dance parties and eventually made it home. Great end to a great day :) Yassou!

The boat ride sounds amazing!
